I am a long-time NVRC member--from the mid 70's to about 2000.  I'm retired now and thinking about getting back into the hobby.  Before jumping in I'd like to check out the field.  How can I get access?  I'm available just about any time.

Doug

Good to hear from you. Give me a call and we can discuss your access. Also, this Sunday, Aug 16th, the Poplar Ford Fairfax County site will be open. You should check that site out also.

Hi everyone,

I am glad someone raised the issue of flight instruction.

I have been a (non-active) member for a number of years and the inability to get flight instruction at NVRC has always been an obstacle for me. While faithfully maintaining my membership at NVRC I joined another club (quite far from my house in Arlington) to get that instruction. But not enough of it. I can take off and land fairly well but I am not proficient enough to venture out on my own and take the proficiency test.

I have a good trainer (Nexstar), a good radio (6 channel Futaba), am willing to take the jump, but I do not have a buddy box.

Could someone help me? Thanks.

Hi Kamal - Yes, we would love the opportunity to help you become more proficient and there are a number of us that can provide flight instruction.  Ken Bassett trained a couple folks yesterday at Poplar Ford park.  He should be able to provide training again this Saturday at Poplar Ford park.  Will you be able to make it?  Also, if we have the meeting at the field this Thursday (weather permitting), we can even help you out then.
