Hello all,

I'm looking to join the club, as I've recently become an AMA member. I'm also a new RC airplane pilot and have not had my first flight yet. I was hoping I could meet with a trainer on January 22 during the Snow Fun Fly. Would this be possible?

As a side note I have the following:
ParkZone F4U Corsair
Spektrum DX7 w/AR7000
ParkZone 2200 mAh LiPo

I've already binded the transmitter to the receiver and the plane is definitely in good order, all servos working and responding quickly. As I'm entirely new to the hobby, I really would like some help in getting this up in the air!

Ciao,

Chris

Chris,

Welcome.  Please fill out the member application under the "Become a Member" section of our website, and send it to Ken Bassett.  As part of the club membership process, you'll provide us with the necessary AMA info.  Ken handles our membership process.

Ken also is one of the designated club instructors who trains new pilots using our club trainer through the use of a buddy box system.  Having been through this process myself earlier this year, I would encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.  Please contact Ken to see whether he is planning to attend the Snow Fun Fly (weather permitting) and stay afterwards to conduct some training sessions (rcflyer132@AOL.com, 703-425-1392).

Look forward to seeing you at the Snow Fun Fly next month.

Chris

If you have not, I recommend you pick up and use a flight simulator. The Basic one at Hobby Hanger would be fine.

Hey Chris,

I joined the club last January and started flying on my own in July. The members of the club are the reason behind it. They will help you in anyway that they can. They will also make you feel as a welcomed member regardless of your experience. Just make sure you link up with one of the members liaisons, Ken Bassett or myself.

I will be out during the fun fly and can help train folks.  The Corsair is a good plane, but can be a hand full for a new pilot.  Get some sim time and a trainer to go with that Corsair.  We will get you chasing zeros in no time.

Thanks everyone. I'm still waiting to receive my AMA number, but once that arrives I'll be filling out the NVRC Application and sending it out to Ken. I have been doing a little training with the RealFlight G5 software, but that can only go so far. I look forward to meeting everyone, I should be out there for the Snow Fun Fly even if it is just as an observer.
