61  General Category / Events and Announcements / We now have a shed! on: April 08, 2009, 07:54:22 PM
Today 4-Outdoor came out to our field and did an outstanding job preparing the site and placing our new pre-built 8'x12' shed in the back corner of the pits.  The shed looks great and will be used to store the mower and misc equipment.  Thanks to Bob Burnett and Roger Hammel for their help overseeing the work.

Regarding the batteries, you have two options: 1. Buy new, or 2. You can fully charge them and then decharge them using a battery analyzer to see how much capacity they hold.  If they better than 80% of their rated capacity they should still be okay.  Do you have a cycler?  If not, I or someone else can test them for you.

Hello Tom - welcome!  We have a bunch of members that can help you out.  As you mentioned, the first thing we'll want to do is to inspect your plane visually, run up the engine, do a range check, and then we can start some flight training.  I'm glad to hear that you are working to get your AMA membership, that's the right first step.  Once our field dries out a little more we can arrange for someone to meet you at the field.

A couple questions for you: have you replaced your flight and transmitter batteries?  How old is your transmitter (I just want to make sure it is in line with the current standards)?  Let me know if you have any question.

Thanks
Steve

The field has been fertilized and seeded!  Unfortunatly, we couldn't aerate or lime due to the soft field conditions this morning, but we were able to put down 400 lbs of fertilizer and about 200 lbs of seed.  Thanks to Al Wilds, Ken Bassett, Bill Alexander, Mark Franke, Bob Burnett, and Roger Hammel for helping out in less than ideal conditions.

Mark took some good pictures of our adventures which should be posted soon.

We're aiming to roll the field at the end of April and will most likely have to push the aeration and liming out to the late fall, which is the best time to do it anyway.

I've uploaded my poor attempt at making a video of Don's flight demos at: http://www.filefactory.com/file/af5821a/n/20090314_Pattern_Clinic_Flying_Demo_zip
