Per Steve:
Although it may not look like it, flying season is just around the corner and it's time to start getting our field ready for another great year of flying. We will conduct the majority of the field maintenance in three phases:
Phase 1: Aerating and liming (March 17th)
Phase 2: Seeding, fertilizing, and rolling (tentatively week of March 23)
Phase 3: Field Day - building shed, building pavilion and misc field maintenance (April 25th)
Right now I'm looking for about 4 volunteers to help with Phase 1 (aerating and liming) next Tuesday morning, March 10th. Bill Alexandra will be providing the equipment but we'll need some additional muscle to help load lime and maybe do a few other chores. If you would like to help out please send an email to me at
insalacos@saic.com and be sure to include your contact information so I can share more details and contact you if plans need to change due to weather.
Once we lock down a date for Phase 2, I'll send out another email to solicit volunteers to help with the seeding, fertilizing, and rolling. The big activity for our Field day in April will be building a club shed and pavilion; be sure to come to our March meeting to vote on options!
As is the norm, please consider the field closed to flying during the times of field maintenance. Thanks in advance for your help,
Steve
