2009 NVRC ANNUAL DISPLAY (Formerly Building) CONTEST
The annual Display Contest will be held on May 21, 2009. Doors will be open at 7:00 p.m. The following criteria will apply pending consideration of suggested changes that may be proposed between now and the actual contest date.
2009 Invitation Change, Any aircraft that previously won in any category of a previous NVRC Display or Building Contest is invited to be presented for display only at the contest. Prior winners cannot compete a second time. You are invited but not required to display your trophy and an information sheet with your aircraft.
2008 Rule Change, any aircraft previously entered in a NVRC Building contest can be entered if it has not won one of the competition’s categories.
The categories are as follows, Scratch/Kit Built, Giant (IMAA legal) for both Sport and Scale and Standard for both Sport and Scale. (Voters, please note the differences.) There will be awards to 2nd place in the above five mentioned categories. In addition, there will be special awards for: Best Junior, Best Electric “Park Flyer” and Best of Show. .
The Best of Show award, with the winner’s name engraved on it will be held by the recipient until next year’s contest. In addition, the recipient keeps a silver bowl which is part of the trophy.
Models built by Junior’s may be entered in any of the above categories. Junior entries are eligible for both category and the Junior award. Planes entered by Juniors must be identified as such.
Scratch/Kit Built from Plans means just that. Whether you designed it or someone else did. The materials come separately and you assemble the model. It is recommended you have the plans available.
Scale entries may be either sport or precision scale models. Proof-of-scale documentation should be available if requested.
Sport category includes all other types of aircraft, i.e., sport, pattern, glider, racer, helicopter or anything else that can be classed as a model aircraft. Boats and cars are not eligible.
Best Electric “Park Flyer” is any electric powered aircraft weighing less than 25 oz. ready to fly. All entries must be RC. ARF’s are acceptable except in the Scratch/Kit Built category. They must be owned and assembled (if req’d.) by NVRC members in good standing More than one builder per entry and more than one entry per builder is permitted.
Models previously entered in an NVRC building contest are permitted to compete if they have not won a first or second place in any of the categories. It is preferable that models be complete and ready to fly but unfinished models that the builder feels warrants attention may be entered.
Winners will be determined by popular vote of the membership. All voting is subjective and there are no judging rules. Ballots will be provided. Any decisions concerning category determination or rules interpretations will be the responsibility of the CD. The CD’s decision will be final.
It is recommended that you prepare an information sheet to be displayed with your model. It should indicate the name of the plane, size, weight, finish, radio, name of builder and Junior if applicable.
The Building/Display contest used to be one of our best attended events. Since you can enter just about anything you have, let’s have a big turn out.
Whether you have an entry or not be sure and come and bring the family, especially the kids—let’s have a Junior trophy winner again this year!

I used to live over there by the Government Center in Fairfax. I was tempted to take a glider over there a few times. Are you looking at mostly electrics or glow?
