Pigz-A-Fly-in

O.K. everyone, we have the event sanction in hand for The Pigz-A-Fly-in!

Date : Saturday June 20, 2009
Time : 09:30-16:00

Directions: http://www.doukeniewinery.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=page.display&page_id=19&CFID=228905&CFTOKEN=19901398

Doukenie Winery asked that we guarantee a large number of flyers from noon until 16:00, as that is when they expect most of their clients.

The winery is having a pig roast that day.  NVRC will provide drinks (non-alchoholic only :'( ), but at this time food purchase will be up to you.  If that changes, it will be posted here.

I have one large cooler I can put drinks in, but need one or two folks to volunteer to each bring one so we will have plentiful supply of cold drinks.

I will also need one or two folks to help with set-up around 08:00 (caution tape barriers, etc.)  Please let me know if you can bring a cooler or help set up.

Based on last year this is a great family event.

The field is a bit rough, so I recommend larger aircraft or hand-launched.  I have talked to the manager about trying to get the field cut lower than last year, and will be meeting with her the week of the event to get a basic field laid out.  (as a note, my 25 size cub was able to take off last year, but took some effort).

Here are some basic event rules:

  • Have Fun!
  • NO NOISY PLANES.  We are guests of the winery and are trying to make this an annual event, your cooperation  is appreciated.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO CONSUMPTION OF ALCHOLIC BEVERAGES PRIOR TO OR DURING FLYING.    Should you decide to sample the local wine (it is good by the way) then; 1. Pack up your R/C gear 2. Notify the CD (me) your gear is packed and that you are done flying 3. Sample the wine...heckling of those still flying will be strongly encouraged  ;D .
:P

Please post here if you are planning to attend, I look forward to seeing you there!

Doug

I met with the winery folks today to discuss the field orientation.

Based on the flyer I saw today, it looks like it is more of a catered barbeque than an actual pig roast.  They will have the options of pulled pork, ribs, or chicken.

They are excited about the event and will be mowing a LARGE area for us!

So far I have only heard from two people that are planning to attend.  We need more people!!!

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are attending, so I can plan accordingly.

Cheers,

Doug
