Title: Field Work Day at Poplar Ford Park
Post by: Gary V on August 21, 2010, 08:06:31 PM
NVRC'ers - now that we have regular use of Poplar Ford Park, it's time we start investing in field improvements.  We're going to have a field day on Saturday, 28 August from 9am to 12pm to accomplish two key tasks:
1.  Fill some of the significant ruts using dirt from the mound
2.  Per our Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Fairfax County, install another fence line so the pilots area is separated from a spectator areas.

We'll need shovels, wheel barrels, sledge hammers, and post hole diggers, so if you got them, please bring them.  I know this is short notice, but I would like to have about 10 volunteers.  Speaking of volunteering, I'm sure not many have read the MOA we have for Poplar Ford Park, but one requirement we now have is that each member must volunteer 4 hours per year!  Field improvements, community events and other such activities all qualify.  This field day would of course qualify as well and would allow each volunteer to log at least 3 hours, which we'll begin tracking using a log that is maintained at the field.

Please send me an email if you are able to help out and also let me know what tools you'll be able to bring or if you have any other suggested improvements that need to be accomplished ASAP.  We'll have another field day late fall to remove some of the trees from the landing approach and other typical clean up activities.

Thanks
Steve
